Why Children should be educated on the world's Religions
|
From a completely secular standpoint, religion prevails in the world today in two very important ways: through its moral and ethical teachings, and through its historical significance. In a world plagued by hatred and racism, it is imperative that children are educated on the world’s religions. Not only would religious education contribute to making students more accepting of other cultures, but it also could provide to young people a clear, unbiased knowledge of the world’s religions. With this knowledge, we may empower students to form their own opinions on religion based on their broad knowledge, and to make their own, informed decisions concerning their personal faith. Also, consider the moral teachings of religion and the influence these teachings have, as well as the importance of teaching students history and how religion factors into this.
